What are the problems that needs a mammographic examination?
It is important to know: 60% of women had no symptoms when breast cancer was discovered in them. This is why screening is important in every 2 years. Today, over 70% of breast cancers discovered in time in Hungary can be cured. The best chance of curing cancer is when it is below 1 cm and not yet palpable.
These may be symptoms suggestive of breast cancer:
- palpable lump in the chest and / or armpits
- nipple retracts or an indentation appears on the skin of the breast
Breast cancer is a very insidious type of cancer because it can grow unnoticed for a long time. However, at a certain stage of the disease, it can be detected by mammography even when it is not yet palpable. A mammographic examination is recommended for all women over the age of 40 every two years, and in some cases even annually. Such a case is, for example, the incidence of breast cancer in the family, especially if the tumour appeared early in a person under 35 years of age.
To ensure the most accurate diagnosis possible, in addition to the mammograph, we also perform ultrasound and physical, tactile examination of the patients.

The course of the examination
Contrary to popular belief, the test does not hurt, it is just a little uncomfortable. However, it is worth enduring the feeling of pressure for a few minutes in exchange for finding out if there is an abnormality in our breast. It is best to perform the test on days 4-16 of the cycle.
Two-way images of both breasts are taken during mammography. A specialist assistant is present at the examination to make the recordings. These are later evaluated by a radiologist experienced in mammography. The doctor will then palpate the breast and an ultrasound will be performed. If necessary, additional examination and sampling can take place in our clinic at another time
