Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT)

Advanced endoscopic and microscopic diagnostics, minimally invasive ear procedures, and effective upper respiratory treatments delivered by experienced ENT specialists.

Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Care

Precise diagnostic examinations, easier breathing, and gentle, effective treatment

Symptoms affecting the head and neck—from throbbing ear pain and persistent nasal congestion to hoarseness lasting for weeks—can significantly impact not only your daily comfort but also your sleep quality, communication, and overall well-being. Untreated acute infections and inflammation may become chronic, potentially leading to lasting hearing problems or the spread of infection to surrounding areas.

At Swiss Clinic, our ENT services focus on prompt, thorough, and minimally invasive diagnostic evaluations. Using ultra-thin optical endoscopes and high-resolution examination microscopes, our specialists can identify even subtle, otherwise hidden abnormalities with precision, often allowing treatment to begin during your very first visit.

What to know before your ENT examination

Fasting is not required before your ENT consultation, so you may eat and drink normally before your appointment. To help ensure an accurate diagnosis and a smooth examination, please keep the following recommendations in mind:

What should you know before your appointment?

  • Avoid ear drops and nasal sprays before your examination: If possible, avoid using ear drops or products that may leave colored residue for several hours before your appointment, as they can obscure the appearance of the eardrum and ear canal.
  • Avoid cotton swabs: Even if your ear feels blocked, do not attempt to clean the ear canal with cotton swabs. They can push earwax deeper into the canal and potentially damage the delicate eardrum.
  • Bring previous medical records: Please bring any previous audiology (hearing test) results, sinus CT scans or reports, hospital discharge summaries, and a list of medications you take regularly.

When should you see an ENT specialist?

The ears, nose, and throat form a closely interconnected and highly sensitive system. A specialist examination is recommended if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Ear-related symptoms: Sharp or throbbing ear pain, a feeling of pressure or fullness in the ear, ear discharge, sudden or gradual hearing loss, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), or a blocked sensation caused by earwax buildup.
  • Nasal and sinus problems: Persistent nasal congestion lasting for weeks, difficulty breathing through the nose, yellow or green nasal discharge, pressure or pain around the forehead and face, or a reduced sense of smell.
  • Throat and voice problems: Severe or persistent sore throat, difficulty or pain when swallowing, a sensation of a lump in the throat, hoarseness lasting longer than 2–3 weeks, or loss of voice.
  • Upper respiratory conditions in children: Recurrent middle ear infections, persistent mouth breathing, nighttime snoring, enlarged adenoids, or suspected hearing loss in children.
  • Balance disorders and dizziness: Sudden episodes of spinning dizziness (vertigo) triggered by head movements, or persistent feelings of imbalance and unsteadiness requiring further evaluation.

Integrated diagnostic services

Clear breathing, healthy hearing, and mucosal health

The ear, nose, and throat systems are closely linked both anatomically and functionally. Untreated sinusitis or persistent nasal congestion can easily spread through the Eustachian tube into the middle ear, causing lasting hearing loss and tinnitus. The key to effective care is understanding these interconnected pathways and utilizing advanced diagnostic instruments.

At our clinic, our specialists go beyond superficial symptom relief: using high-definition endoscopic and microscopic imaging, we identify and target the root cause of the problem. When needed, our team collaborates directly with pulmonology, allergology, and dental colleagues to provide lasting relief from issues like respiratory allergies or sinus infections of dental origin.

Don't wait for acute inflammation to become chronic or for hearing difficulties to worsen. Our experienced ENT specialists provide gentle, modern diagnostics and prompt treatment—book your consultation today.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about our ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist care.

No, it is not painful, though it can feel mildly unusual or ticklish. Our specialists use ultra-thin, gentle optical instruments and can apply a local numbing and decongestant spray beforehand if needed, ensuring the examination is safe and easy to tolerate.

No, fasting is not required for a standard ENT consultation. You can eat and drink normally before your appointment. If you have a sensitive gag reflex, we simply recommend avoiding large, heavy meals immediately before your throat and larynx exam.

Never use cotton swabs or sharp objects inside your ear canal. They push earwax deeper against the eardrum and can cause micro-scratches or infection. Instead, leave earwax removal to a specialist, who can clear the blockage painlessly under a microscope in just a few minutes.

If hoarseness lasts longer than 2 to 3 weeks without an active cold or respiratory infection, an ENT evaluation is strongly advised. A laryngoscopy allows us to examine the vocal cords directly to rule out nodules, polyps, acid reflux irritation, or serious conditions as early as possible.

Pediatric exams are conducted in a playful, calm setting while the child sits in a parent's lap or right by their side. Our physicians take extra time and patience, using gentle illuminated instruments and microscopes to quickly check the eardrum and adenoids without causing fear.
