Fertility center

Personalized support on your path to parenthood

If a desired pregnancy hasn’t happened after some time, it’s worth evaluating both the female side and, when relevant, the male side in parallel. Many factors can affect fertility, so the goal of an evaluation is not to interpret a single lab value or ultrasound result, but to systematically map your reproductive history and possible underlying causes.

At the Swiss Fertility Center, we offer infertility and assisted reproduction counseling, gynecologic evaluation, and follow-up of the treatment process in Hungary. If IVF, egg or embryo donation, fertility preservation, or certain genetic procedures are indicated, under Swiss Clinic’s current partnership model these can be linked to the services of the GYN-FIV assisted reproduction center in Bratislava.

Fertility evaluation and consultation

What to know before your visit

One of the most important goals of the first fertility consultation is to review previous attempts, tests, and treatments. The more accurate the information, the more precisely the next step can be planned.

What to keep in mind before you arrive

  • Both partners’ medical history: If possible, come as a couple. It’s important to know how long you’ve been trying, and whether there has been a previous pregnancy, miscarriage, fertility treatment, or known problem.
  • Previous test results: Gynecologic ultrasound, hormone and AMH results, a tubal patency test, semen analysis, or genetic results. Existing results don’t need to be repeated.
  • Menstrual cycle details: It helps to gather the first day of your last period, your cycle length and regularity, and any data from ovulation tests or apps.
  • Details of previous fertility treatments: If you’ve already had hormonal stimulation, intrauterine insemination (IUI), or IVF, bring your documents about medications, eggs, and embryos.

When should you consider a fertility evaluation?

The timing of an evaluation depends on your age, how long you’ve been trying, and your medical history:

  • Unsuccessful attempts: After about 12 months if you’re under 35, or about 6 months if you’re over 35. An evaluation may be appropriate even sooner if you’re over 40 or have a known risk factor.
  • Irregular or missed periods: If your cycles are long, variable, or absent, you don’t need to wait out the usual trying period, because of possible ovulatory or hormonal problems.
  • Known reproductive condition: If you have endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, a fallopian tube problem, ovarian surgery, or premature ovarian insufficiency.
  • Male factors: Targeted evaluation of the male partner if there is an abnormal semen analysis, a urologic condition, previous surgery, or cancer treatment.
  • Fertility preservation or assisted reproduction: To prepare for egg or sperm freezing, IVF, a donor program, or procedures planned for genetic reasons.

Dr. Kósa Zsolt

Head of the center

30+ years of professional experience in infertility evaluation and IVF treatment

The clinical work of the Swiss Fertility Center is led by Dr. Zsolt Kósa, head of the center, who has more than 30 years of professional experience in the evaluation and treatment of infertility and in assisted reproduction, including IVF. After identifying the underlying causes of difficulty conceiving, the center’s goal is to give every patient or couple information and treatment options tailored to their life situation, medical history, and reproductive plans.

In addition to evaluating conventional fertility problems, we place special emphasis on long-term fertility preservation. Egg freezing may be an option for women who plan to have children later, or who are facing a medical condition or treatment that could threaten their future fertility. The center also evaluates problems related to premature ovarian insufficiency and significant fertility decline in both women and men, and reviews possible reproductive solutions.

The goal is not to follow a predetermined treatment path, but to determine which tests and treatment options may truly be indicated based on your age, health, previous results, and family-building plans.

Available examinations and treatment options

Fertility care can involve several steps that build on one another to create a personalized care pathway:

First fertility consultation and personalized evaluation plan

At the first visit, your gynecologic and reproductive history, how long you’ve been trying, previous pregnancies, and any tests already done are reviewed in detail.

Why choose Swiss Clinic?

Fertility evaluation and treatment often require coordinating several tests and treatment steps that build on one another. At Swiss Clinic, the specialized assisted reproduction options of the GYN-FIV center in Bratislava can be linked, when needed, to your fertility evaluation and gynecologic follow-up in Hungary.

Book a fertility consultation

No two journeys are the same

The tests you need are determined by your age, reproductive history, cycle, previous results, and, when relevant, the evaluation of both partners.

Many treatment steps can be followed close to home

Depending on your individual treatment plan, gynecologic exams, some follow-up visits, and part of the ultrasound monitoring during stimulation can take place in Hungary.

Assisted reproduction expertise in Bratislava

IVF, egg retrieval, embryology procedures, a donor program, and several specialized reproductive services are available through the partner center.

From evaluation to further treatment

The goal is to make it clear, based on your test results, which further treatment or assisted reproduction steps may be appropriate.

A fertility evaluation isn’t just about the female side

Difficulty conceiving can have female, male, combined, or unexplained causes that routine procedures can’t clearly identify. That’s why, when a male partner is also involved in family building, it’s important to evaluate both sides in parallel whenever possible. The female evaluation can look at, among other things, ovulation, the condition of the uterus and ovaries, and, as needed, tubal patency, while on the male side a semen analysis can provide essential information.

It’s important to know that visiting a fertility center does not automatically mean IVF. In some cases, a treatable hormonal or gynecologic problem is behind the difficulty; in others, targeted treatment, cycle tracking, or an assisted reproduction procedure may be considered. IVF is recommended only when there is a clinical indication and an expected benefit based on your individual situation.

Have you been trying to conceive for a while, did a previous treatment not lead to a pregnancy, or would you like to assess your fertility options in good time? At your first fertility consultation, we review your history and any existing results, and based on these we can determine which further tests or treatment options may be appropriate.

Main areas of care and examination:

Female fertility evaluation

  • Review of menstrual and ovulation history
  • Gynecologic exam and ultrasound
  • Ovarian reserve assessment when indicated
  • Targeted evaluation of the uterus and fallopian tubes as needed

Male fertility

  • Reproductive and urologic history
  • Semen analysis
  • Andrology evaluation as needed
  • Sperm freezing and specialized reproductive options through the partner center

Assisted reproduction

Frequently asked questions

The most common questions about fertility evaluation and our partnership with GYN-FIV.

Under the current process, you can generally expect two visits to Bratislava: one for the necessary in-person consultation and treatment-related administration, and the other for the specific reproductive procedure. The exact travel needed may depend on the treatment you choose and your individual treatment plan.

Yes. At the GYN-FIV center in Bratislava, you can work with a Hungarian-speaking contact person, so questions about treatment, appointments, and logistics can also be handled in Hungarian.

The right treatment option always depends on your individual fertility situation. During the initial consultation, the specialist reviews your previous results, female and male factors, and your family-building plans, and then explains the treatment options that may be appropriate and the packages that go with them. The goal is not to pick a predetermined package, but to identify the treatment path that best fits your situation.

The Swiss Fertility Center is currently available at Swiss Premium Health Center Pest (Váci út 30, 1132 Budapest) and Swiss Premium Health Center Újbuda (Bikszádi utca 6, 1119 Budapest).

At the first visit, your previous gynecologic and fertility history, your family-building plans, and any test results you already have are reviewed in detail. During the consultation, possible additional tests and treatment directions are also discussed. The goal is to create a personalized evaluation and treatment plan based on your history and initial diagnostic information.

The current fee for the first fertility consultation is listed on Swiss Clinic’s current price list. For your first visit, if possible, come together with your partner so that both female and male factors affecting fertility can be reviewed.

Yes. The services of the GYN-FIV partner center in Bratislava include egg and sperm donation as well as embryo donation. A donor program may be considered, for example, if one or both partners don’t have usable gametes, if gamete quality is significantly reduced, or if donor gametes may be appropriate for a specific genetic reason. The right option is always determined based on your individual results and clinical indication.

The partner center is the GYN-FIV Gynecology and Assisted Reproduction Center, located at Trnavská cesta 106, 821 01 Bratislava, Slovakia. Under the partnership between Swiss Clinic and GYN-FIV, your evaluation and some follow-up visits take place in Hungary, while certain parts of the specialized assisted reproduction procedures take place at this center.
