A fertility evaluation isn’t just about the female side
Difficulty conceiving can have female, male, combined, or unexplained causes that routine procedures can’t clearly identify. That’s why, when a male partner is also involved in family building, it’s important to evaluate both sides in parallel whenever possible. The female evaluation can look at, among other things, ovulation, the condition of the uterus and ovaries, and, as needed, tubal patency, while on the male side a semen analysis can provide essential information.
It’s important to know that visiting a fertility center does not automatically mean IVF. In some cases, a treatable hormonal or gynecologic problem is behind the difficulty; in others, targeted treatment, cycle tracking, or an assisted reproduction procedure may be considered. IVF is recommended only when there is a clinical indication and an expected benefit based on your individual situation.
Have you been trying to conceive for a while, did a previous treatment not lead to a pregnancy, or would you like to assess your fertility options in good time? At your first fertility consultation, we review your history and any existing results, and based on these we can determine which further tests or treatment options may be appropriate.
