What does a haematologist do?
A haematologist is a specialist in blood, hematopoietic and lymphatic system disorders.
In case of what problems should we consult a haematologist?
Any problem related to the numerical or dysfunction of a blood cell (white blood cell, red blood cell, platelet). Haematology deals with blood clotting disorders: with bleeding and increased coagulation and a tendency to thrombosis. Recognition and treatment of malignancies such as leukemias and lymphomas are also the responsibility of the haematologist.
Recurrent spontaneous abortions are also often the cause of haematology.
We are waiting for patients who have had abnormal blood counts in a screening test, the cause of their anaemia has not been clarified; who want to know if they are at increased risk of thrombosis or how long to take anticoagulants after deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism. We help you choose from anticoagulant drugs.
We are happy to give a second opinion on a diagnosis that has already been made.
