DENTISTRY

What does a dentist do?

Visit a dentist if you need any dental intervention or if your teeth hurt. Perforated teeth and tooth extractions are also the responsibility of dentists.

In case of what problems should we consult a dentist?

Visit your dentist primarily with dental and gum problems and pain. You should also visit your dentist if you have inflamed, bleeding gums, tartar or mouth fungus, or your breath may be uncomfortable.

Common dental treatments

Conservative dentistry

Conservative treatment means trying to keep the tooth and to deal with the existing problem. The following are classified as conservative dentistry:

Various fillings – The most common dental procedure that can be used to treat small and medium-sized caries. If treated in time, subsequent complications such as root canal treatment or tooth removal can be prevented. The fillings are always made of metal-free filling material, so the same colour, natural effect and lasting results as the teeth can be achieved.

Root canal treatment – Root canal treatment can prevent tooth removal. The most common reason for treatment is gingivitis, which is caused by bacteria entering the gums from deep caries. In the first step, we make an X-ray of the tooth to see the problem accurately. The tooth is then anesthetized and the blood vessels and nerves are removed from the root painlessly. After thorough disinfection, the channel is filled with root filler. Finally, the accuracy of the root filling is checked with another X-ray.

Replacement of dental defects (prosthetics)

Inlay, onlay – Inlay or onlay inserts are a kind of “glued fillings” that are made in dental laboratories and are finally glued to the dental cavity in a solid state. Their great advantage is that with their help the remaining tooth tissue can be saved and preserved. Inlay filling is primarily a technology used for grinding teeth, in case the tooth is broken or the caries is too great. Onlay is applied if the damage to the tooth is already too great for inlay to be applied to the given surface, because not only the chewing surface but also the tooth tips are damaged.

Aesthetic dentistry

Tartar removal – Settled bacterial layers deposited on the surface of teeth are called tartar. They are removed using a so-called depurator, which separates tartar from the surface of the teeth using small ultrasonic shocks. During the process, the teeth are cooled by a jet of water. Ultrasonic tartar removal does not pose a danger to the teeth because it only affects the tartar. The enamel thus remains perfectly intact and the process is painless.

Teeth whitening – A snow-white smile gives you confidence. Discoloured teeth are primarily an aesthetic problem that can affect a person’s entire life. In addition to many factors, smoking and foods with a colouring effect (e.g. coffee, wine, cola) can cause discoloration of the teeth. At our clinic, we offer home teeth whitening procedures because they are more gentle. After treatment, we recommend taking the following tips to keep the result lasting:

  • Smoking is not recommended for 48 hours after teeth whitening
  • Avoid black tea, coffee, carbonated soft drinks.
  • Do not eat coloured foods such as soy sauce, mustard, ketchup, coloured fruits (raspberries, cherries), citrus fruits (lemon, orange).
  • Avoid consuming coloured alcohol.

Orthodontics

How can orthodontics help? Congested teeth, excessive gaps between teeth, sore jaw; with these problems, it is definitely worth visiting a dentist who is experienced in orthodontics. The aim of the treatment is to restore the teeth and jaws functionally and aesthetically. Today, no one is amazed at adult braces, in fact. Teeth correction is current and can be started at any age. Of course, it is ideal if parents pay attention to developing a child’s healthy teeth from an early age. The technical tools for adult and paediatric orthodontics are different, but their purpose is the same.

The general procedure for orthodontics is as follows:

  • panoramic X-ray
  • impressions
  • preparation of photo documentation
  • handing over and discussing detailed written documentation
  • braces selection
  • fitting braces

Orthodontic appliances are available in our practice:

Self-ligating braces: The great advantage of the device is that it makes the teeth move with softer, bone-friendly forces. The device provides greater comfort compared to more conventional braces. Using a soft-force orthodontist requires shorter treatment times and fewer doctor visits. Tooth extraction can also be avoided more often by using it because it is great for creating space in the mouth. This system is also available in the market in an aesthetic, tooth-coloured version.

Happy Smile is one of the most aesthetic braces available today. Due to its design, it is almost imperceptible. In addition to the aesthetic appearance, it provides comfortable wearing. The braces can be removed so meals and brushing can be done without hindrance. The rails are designed using special software. The lower and upper rails are separate. Each rail should be worn for an average of 2 weeks at 20-22 hours a day.
